The line grew out of an extensive study of Finn Juhl's work — his original drawings, publications, and interviews. This research shaped the entire project, from selecting which pattern to work from to how faithfully to translate it into textile. Working in watercolour, Juhl had developed his own distinct colour combinations and geometric patterns, using them as an integrated part of his interiors, uniting architecture and furniture through a shared visual language. FJ Pattern took one such watercolour study — a triangular, faceted geometry — and developed it into a woven jacquard textile, translating Juhl's own sense of colour and shape from paper into cloth. The palette was developed from swatch studies in a considered range of blues and greys, drawn from Juhl's own interiors and reference material. Developing the line from archival study to finished textile was managed as its own project, from research through to production. The finished line launched as part of the Finn Juhl Collection, in blankets, bedspreads, pillows, and throws made from organic cotton and baby alpaca wool.
